Nanao was the type of guy who was quite busy during Valentine's Day and White Day. It was not uncommon for him to find his shoe locker or desk with quite a few chocolates on Valentine's. Or to have the occasional braver guy who gave him chocolate face-to-face. And he was always the type to try and give back to whoever he could on White Day.
This year, however, he was expecting to receive on this day as well. There was a certain special someone he had given chocolate to on Valentine's Day. And knowing that someone, he expected no less but an enjoyable day.
He walked a bit slower than normal as he headed towards the school's gate. He wouldn't mind waiting. But he was also nice enough to give his boyfriend a chance to catch up.
He felt a hand hold his shoulder gently. And right after, Taiju was beside him. Nanao smiled at him. That was the only greeting necessary.
"Your place?" Taiju suggested.
"Sure." Nanao grabbed his hand and returned to his normal walking speed. He couldn't help but smirk when Taiju intertwined their fingers. Nanao squeezed his hand affectionately in response.
They arrived at Nanao's house a while later and headed straight towards his bedroom. Nanao sat at the edge of the bed, resting his chin on his hand as he kept his eyes locked on Taiju.
Taiju chuckled. "May I know why you're smiling so much?"
"Why? Maybe I'm just happy to be with my boyfriend." Nanao faked a pout. "Or maybe I'm happy to finally be receiving on White Day instead of just giving. Or maybe I'm thinking how lucky I must be to, out of all the guys who gave you chocolate," he smirked. "I am the only one who gets to have you in my bedroom."
Taiju smirked as well as he walked towards him. "Then I am very lucky too. You must have had to give even more gifts than me." He sat beside Nanao.
"I can't exactly blame all your secret admirers for being too shy to talk to you face-to-face. But, maybe I should be thankful for that as well. I wouldn't want any of them snatching you away, after all." He hugged Taiju's arm, leaning his head on his shoulder.
"I'm not that great. Besides, I doubt I'd find someone better than you."
"You flatterer." Nanao giggled. Despite beinf a bit worried of what might actually be in Taiju's mind. He knew Taiju could have some dark thoughts sometimes. But Nanao decided to just try and make him happy for the day instead of worrying too much...
"Anyways..." Taiju reached into his bag, pulling out a light pink box with a green bow. He handed it to Nanao. "Don't forget what we're actually here for."
Nanao couldn't help the smile on his face, even if his cheeks were starting to hurt a little at this point. "You even went out of your way to not the traditional colors, huh?"
"I figured it would make it more special." Taiju shrugged.
"It does. I like it." Nanao gave him a quick, soft kiss on the lips. It had Taiju taken aback for a bit, but he just wrapped an arm around Nanao's waist afterwards. Nanao proceeded to open the box on top of his lap.
It had about 15 little chocolates inside, evenly split between bitter, milk and white chocolate. Nanao felt a deep warmth in his chest as he smiled. He ate one of the milk chocolates, the pleasant taste making him hum.
"You chose something really good, as always." Nanao said. He then grabbed one of the white chocolates and held it out to Taiju. "Open up."
Taiju smiled, then opened his mouth. Nanao placed the chocolate against his tongue. Taiju closed his mouth before his fingers could pull away, smirking. Nanao chuckled, pulling his fingers out and then tapping Taiju's lips. They didn't intend to get things heated so soon. But some joking around wouldn't hurt.
After eating his chocolate, Taiju picked one of the dark chocolates in the box. He held it out to Nanao. Nanao smiled, closed his eyes and opened his mouth.
Taiju held his shoulder, and Nanao could feel his breathing closer to his face. He couldn't help the way his heart beated faster in anticipation.
Taiju slipped the chocolate into Nanao's mouth at the same time that he kissed his cheek. Nanao hadn't really expected that, out of all the possibilities he had been imagining, so Taiju giggled as he closed his jaw for him.
Nanao finished eating his chocolate before speaking. "So you still know how to surprise me, huh?"
"I didn't think it would surprise you that much." Taiju chuckled. "But I guess my plan worked, then."
Nanao smirked, then quickly kissed Taiju on his lips. Taiju was caught off guard by how sudden it was. But after that initial moment of shock, he kissed him back.
Nanao's smile had turned into a soft one once their lips parted. "I love you."
(Of course, Taiju already knew this. But Nanao would still say it a billion times more. He would say it every single day if he could.)
Seeing Taiju blush was a rare sight. But it made the view all the more rewarding. And Taiju's smile after recomposing himself was just as gentle as Nanao's. "I love you too." He moved even closer to Nanao, leaning his head on his shoulder. And he spoked in a low voice. "Thank you. For everything."
Nanao was silent for a moment, just running a hand through Taiju's hair. It felt so nice to touch it.
He closed the chocolate box and put it aside. He pulled Taiju along with him as he laid down on the bed with his head on the pillows. He held Taiju's head against his chest, wondering if he could hear his heartbeat that way.
Taiju hugged him back, nuzzling his chest. And from the way he felt him smiling, Nanao knew he could hear his heartbeat. But Nanao didn't mind it that much. He was just happy to spend the day with his boyfriend and to see him being genuinely happy.
