Even On The Other Side Of The Universe

Latte was nervous.

If he could, he would have stayed on Earth. But as one of the Three Wisemen and with the project of getting the two planets to help each other, it was inevitable that he’d need to go back to his home planet even if just for a short time.

He had predicted as such, and had given Anzu a device that would allow them to talk to each other even in that situation. Or, at least, that is what the device was supposed to do. They hadn’t tested it at such a distance yet, so there was still a possibility that it wouldn’t work well, or at all…

Once he had a bit of free time, he tried calling Anzu. The rings that came from it at least told him it was trying to get the connection to work. He couldn’t help the way his heartbeat grew unsteady and his throat tightened as he waited. He wondered if Anzu would even pick it up if it did work…

The rings stopped.

“Hello? Latte?” Anzu’s voice came from the device, clear as day.

That sound alone made his lips curve into a smile and his muscles relax. “Greetings.”
