Ata didn't usually care for how fast people replied to his messages. He didn't reply as fast as possible himself.
However, he still found it weird that Kyotaro hadn't replied to him. He had read Ata's message, according to his phone. Even if it wasn't that important. They had already planned for Ata to go to his house that day and he just wanted to ask Kyotaro how he was feeling. But Kyotaro always replied to him almost immediately, be it long answers or short ones.
He was also puzzled when he got to Kyotaro's house and didn't get any response when he rang the doorbell. He started to worry if something had happened to him. Fortunately, he already had a copy of Kyotaro's keys, so he managed to get in and check.
"Kyotaro?" He called out as he entered, but then immediately saw Kyotaro laying on the couch, sleeping.
Ata sighed as he approached him, crouching in front of him and making sure he was breathing. Ata was amazed by how deeply he could sleep, if not even the doorbell had woken him. He sighed, gently cupping Kyotaro's cheek and then rubbing his thumb on him.
Kyotaro yawned, stretching his body like a cat as he opened his eyes. "Ata!" He said softly as he smiled and put his hand on top of his, leaning into his touch.
"Good morning." Ata couldn't help but smile back and chuckle, despite his cheeks warming up. “Why didn’t you text me back?”
"You texted me?"
"I did… Did you not see it?"
Kyotaro raised an eyebrow, then grabbed his phone. "You did… I must have fallen asleep while waiting for you to text me."
"You were waiting for that?"
"Yes." Kyotaro smiled again, with a certain sparkle on his eyes. "Because talking to you makes me really happy."
Ata's face heated up even more at that, and he let go of Kyotaro's face to cover up his own. How could he say those things so easily and without feeling any embarrassment at all? He was unbelievable.
"Are you okay?" Kyotaro asked, sitting up.
"I'm fine. I'm just…" He tried peeking at Kyotaro through his fingers, but was too embarrassed to do even that. He groaned.
Kyotaro chuckled. "You're cute, Ata."
"Stop that!" Ata groaned again, shoving his head onto Kyotaro's thighs, his knees on the floor.
Kyotaro didn't say anything else. He just started running his fingers through Ata's long hair, which made Ata sigh as he relaxed. As much as it embarrassed him, he couldn't say he hated Kyotaro's affection…
