“Do we really have to do this today? It’s way too cold out here!” Kaito whined, hugging himself as he flew around with Makoto on their patrol. Said flying certainly didn’t help with how cold he was feeling.
“Just because it’s cold, that doesn’t mean we can just have a break whenever we want. There are people in need out there regardless of the weather.” Makoto said, seeming surprisingly unbothered by the cold air.
Kaito sighed. Right as he was about to keep complaining, he felt something touching the tip of his nose.
“Hm?” He stopped flying forward, raised an eyebrow and rubbed his nose, but when he looked at his hand again there was nothing there.
But as he was looking at his hand so confused, he saw a small snowflake fall onto his palm. He looked up, and saw a few more snowflakes falling. He smiled widely and his eyes sparkled.
“What’s wrong, Pink?” Makoto called from up ahead, having stopped on his tracks when he noticed Kaito wasn’t flying beside him anymore.
“It’s snowing!” Kaito said, voice loud and cheerful. “With how high up we are, we’re probably the first ones to see it, right!?”
“Maybe.” Makoto chuckled, smiling as he closed the distance between them. There were probably some people in even higher places than them somewhere, but he didn’t want to ruin Kaito’s excitement. “Lucky us. Seeing the first snow of the season before everyone else.”
“Do you think it’ll snow enough for us to play in it tomorrow?” Kaito asked, that excited sparkle still in his eyes.
“I’m not sure… But I hope so.”
“Alright, if it does, let’s go to your family’s house.”
“Why there?”
“The backyard there is bigger than the park near the school, obviously!”
Makoto laughed. “Alright. It’s a plan.”
