Kinshiro took a deep breath before ringing the doorbell for En's house. He didn't exactly know why En had offered to let him come over on the weekend, the proposal coming completely out of nowhere. It was… Quite unusual for him, to say the least. But Kinshiro accepted the offer. After all, if En was doing something like that, there should be a reason for it, right?
En took a while to open the door, still in his pajamas despite it being past 12 P.M. already. Not only that, but he also had a blanket wrapped around him. Kinshiro frowned.
"You literally just got here and you're already grumpy?" En asked.
Kinshiro corrected his expression immediately, looking away from En's eyes. "Why are you still in this state in the middle of the afternoon?"
"Oh? Ah, I woke up not too long ago."
"Are you seri-" Kinshiro interrupted himself, clearing his throat. "Well, I guess it's not that bad if it's a day off."
En yawned. "The cold makes me feel lazier, too. Anyway, come on in." He stepped aside, allowing Kinshiro to enter his house.
He had been quite surprised to see how tidy En's house was. He would've expected it to be much messier, but maybe he should have considered his parents being different.
"There's a kotatsu over there." En gestured towards the living room. "Do you like hot cocoa? I'm making some."
"I'd appreciate it."
Kinshiro took a spot on the kotatsu as En headed into the kitchen, the blanket still wrapped around him. The kotatsu warmed up his legs pretty much immediately. Despite how his clothes were already warming him up, he still felt some of the cold. He sighed unintentionally, hoping En hadn't heard it.
"Do you want any marshmallows?" En asked from the kitchen.
"Just one is fine."
En returned from the kitchen shortly after, setting two mugs of hot cocoa on top of the kotatsu and then sitting across from Kinshiro.
"It's still hot, so be careful."
"I know." Kinshiro grabbed the mug carefully, blowing air on it for a while. Once he thought it had cooled enough, he took a sip. It certainly had warmed him inside, even helping his muscles relax a little. And the taste wasn't bad either. In fact, it was quite good. He smiled. "It's good. Thanks, Yufuin." He tried to hold back a yawn, failing. It didn't help that it was a pretty long yawn as well.
En chuckled. "Tired?"
Kinshiro's cheeks warmed up slightly. He tried to tell himself it had been the hot drink, but couldn't deny he did feel a little embarrassed. "I'm fine."
"Hey, it's alright. You've been working hard all week. You deserve to rest a little." En sighed. "That's the whole reason I called you here in the first place."
"You wanted to make me relax…?"
"Yeah. I noticed you were barely eating without working at the same time. I figured you wouldn't take time for yourself unless someone made you do it."
"Well…" Kinshiro couldn't really deny it. He had been doing paperwork even during lunch at school. It had been a busy week for all of the Student Council. And he was the one who had been working the hardest. The only times when he hadn't been working was when he showered or slept… They still hadn't finished everything, and he knew he would have refused to rest even if anyone told him to. He sighed. "You're right." He looked away from him, the heath on his cheeks rising as he mumbled. "Thank you."
En smiled. "Oh, it's nothing. I'd rather see you well than see you walking around like a zombie."
Kinshiro was silent as he drank the rest of his drink. But he kept thinking… Maybe En wasn't as selfish as he had thought at first. Maybe he cared more than he expected…
En yawned once he finished his drink, laying his back on the floor. "Do warm drinks make you sleepy? Don't get mad at me if I sleep again."
Kinshiro sighed. "Fine, I won't."
But he had been feeling the warm drink help his body relax as well. His eyelids felt progressively heavier, and he held back yet another yawn.
He laid back on the floor as well. Laying down for just a few minutes wouldn't hurt, right? It was better than sleeping on top of his arms and risking hurting his back. He fell asleep before he could realise it.
En had been almost falling asleep. And he would have slept without a second thought. However, he realised Kinshiro had been quiet for quite a while. He had barely made a sound… It didn't feel right.
"Hey, Kinshiro." He mumbled. No reply. "Kinshiro." He spoke a little louder. No reply again.
He groaned as he sat up. But he was quite surprised to see Kinshiro asleep on the floor… He did want to help him relax, but hadn't expected him to relax that much. Maybe he had been much more tired than En thought.
He approached his sleeping body quietly, smiling once he saw his face. He looked so calm, so serene. He would probably never have the chance to see such a view again… But sleeping on the floor likely wouldn't do him much good.
He picked up Kinshiro as gently as possible, trying not to wake him up. He took him to the couch, carefully setting him down with his head on a pillow (which En had carried with him when he left his bedroom that day). He took his blanket off his shoulders and covered Kinshiro's body with it.
He just stared at him again for a while, smiling again as he saw him move around a little. He brushed some hair away from his eyes, pulling his hand away immediately when he saw his eyebrows twitch. Fortunately, he kept sleeping.
En chuckled. He could imagine how Kinshiro would react if he ever found out he was watching him sleep. Would he be angry? Embarrassed? Maybe both? He surely wouldn't mind seeing his blushing face more often, given how cute he thought it was.
He didn't know for how long he would still sleep. Maybe it would be safer to look away before he could get caught, but… Just a little while longer wouldn't hurt, right?
