The Beppu twins had started to get just a little more used to having Yumoto around. It wasn't like they were exactly getting along, but his presence had started to feel less enraging.
Haru still wouldn't say he liked him, though. It wasn't like it would be so easy to become friends with him after everything that happened.
But Yumoto didn't seem to understand that at all. He would still constantly go after them, and didn't seem to care about their surprised reactions.
Even if Haru didn't really hate it as much as he would have before, he still didn't want to admit that maybe he was starting to enjoy having him around. Or that he even liked him at all, for that matter.
And yet, when Yumoto had simply shown up to eat lunch with them at the greenhouse, they didn't argue against it too much. Haru had told himself it was because they knew it would be useless to try.
And also, he had brought food that Gora made. The idea of sharing their lunches with each other suddenly didn't seem so bad, even if he had to give his own food to Yumoto.
Even just the smell that came from the lunchbox was amazing. Even if it hadn't been made with them in mind, it was still easy to see all the love he had put into it.
They weren't usually messy eaters. They mostly paid pretty close attention to their manners while eating. But maybe the joy of eating Gora's cooking had made them sloppier. Aki's hand had ended up with a bit of sauce on it, and Haru hadn't even bothered much with wiping his mouth or even seeing if it was dirty at all.
"Hey, Haru." Yumoto caught his attention. “You’ve got something on your cheek.” He reached for his cheek, getting a grain of rice off his face.
Haru's cheeks warmed and he froze. Out of all the things he wasn't used to about having Yumoto around, his casual physical contact was the one he would take the longest to adapt to. And it didn't even feel bad…
"Are you okay?" Yumoto raised an eyebrow at him, but then turned to Aki. "Oh, your hand is dirty. Here, let me help." He grabbed a napkin, and then cleaned the sauce off Aki's hand.
Aki blushed as well, but his body didn't freeze like Haru's. Haru could tell what was going on in his head. They were both feeling the same way.
Yumoto was hard to keep up with. He was hard to predict. And yet the twins couldn't really say that they truly hated him anymore…
